Like I all of you I am saddened by the loss of Oppositelock on the Kinja platform. This is where I started blogging back in 2013 and if it wasn’t for the support of this awesome community I would not be where I am. While I have not been an active member of this community for a while, I still consider myself an Oppo.
I am glad to hear that the members are planning on transitioning this community elsewhere and I predict it will thrive.
Oppo isn’t a place...it’s a people.

It helps that you guys fought the sudden bus throw and gave time to move, as constrained as the timeframe is.
You guys cared more than the big bosses at G/O, and that’s more than enough for us to know. Wherever you go, this reader base will follow. And if Oppo becomes its own thing (we got capable writers), it has the chops.
We’ll be fine. We just have to s tick to gether.

Thank you for sticking your neck out for us. That will not be forgotten. So me fantastic writers have gotten their start here and many of us readers will follow them wherever the go. We’re not loyal to the herbs, we’re loyal to the people that make the content.

Hell yeah, Oppo forever.
Don’t be a stranger to wherever this lands next.
Also, please set Herb Spanfeller’s desk on fire............
for us.

I’ve sent my men for it. And the best part is that unlike most uprisings, we actually know who to replace these herbs with.
Assuming, of course, they wanna ret ake Deadspin and revive Gawker. Either way, we’ve got suitable replacements everywhere.

I’d love to put together a list of everyone in the industry that got their start on OPPO (writers and photographers)...
Hope you join us once in a while
wherever we end up!

Thanks Tom. Without Oppo, I would have had to shop for my boss’s stupid expedition myself. With Oppo, Tom took care of the all the work!

Your boss does know that we will not be coming back to jalopnik right? Once oppo is closed for good, most of us are leaving here for good.
Good luck Tom, get out while you still can

Three things I thought would never happen;
1)
Georgia Turning Blue
2) Avants for sale in the US
3) The end of oppo

I know I’m leaving Jalopnik after Oppo closes. I have no reason to put up with Kinja without Oppo. Jalopnik isn’t what it once was and there are only a few authors still there that I like.

Sticking together is the hard part. I worry about the fragmentation.
